TikTok has taken the world by storm. Since the social media platform’s early days in 2018, the app has been downloaded billions of times. Millions of people scroll through TikTok’s endless feeds of short videos every day. Content classified as controversial by TikTok gets less visibility or is filtered out entirely. This process automatically excludes certain topics and users, including people of color, people with minority views or people with disabilities.
