Between 2000 and 2015, clothing production doubled and wearing time halved. In other words, clothing has really become a throw-away product, which you maybe don't wear any longer than you use a plastic bag.
Every European buys an average of 15 kg of textiles per year. Only 1 % of the turnover comes from fairly produced fashion items. More and more companies are moving their factories back to Europe, producing and processing fabrics locally. Organic farming and fair trade open up new perspectives for cultivation and production conditions.
